Terra Firma has been transforming the gardens of London and the South East for nearly 40 years, creating beautiful, welcoming spaces that are a pleasure to be in and significantly enhance a home's value.

What We Do

At Terra Firma Landscapes, we specialise in transforming gardens. From large-scale landscaping projects to small city gardens, we create incredible outdoor spaces for you, your family and friends to relax and enjoy for many years to come.

We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of garden services to suit all your project needs, large or small. Select the service to discover more. If you have a project you would like to discuss, please don't hesitate to get in touch; we'd love to hear from you.

Our five step process to your perfect garden

Enhancing your outdoor space is not only an investment in the value of your home but in your quality of life – a responsibility we take exceptionally seriously to ensure you have the right plan for the project. Simply contact us to organise a free site visit and consultation to explore your garden’s potential and make your vision come to life.

It would be helpful for us to know: whether your home is in a conservation area; when it was built (Victorian, Georgian, Edwardian, 1930s-70s or contemporary); the size of your outdoor space; whether the garden is shaded or sunny and at what times it catches the sun; and whether you have a specific plan in mind or if you would like us to make suggestions.

If you don’t have set ideas about your outdoor space but just want it to look better, here are some things to think about before our meeting:

Step 1: Visualisation
Imagine your fantasy lifestyle outdoors... Perhaps you’ve been inspired by a film, TV show or magazine? Gather some images to share what you see with your mind’s eye.

Step 2: Sketching the idea
After our visit, we provide: 1) A not-to-scale sketch with a design plan (free service) or 2) A scale drawing rendered in two or three dimensions (fee charged).

Step 3: The building plan
We supply an itemised written quotation and approximate schedule for the works.

Step 4: Considerate gardening
Rest assured that all of our products are sustainably sourced where possible; that we recycle and responsibly dispose of all materials removed from your garden.

Step 5: Your peace of mind
Terra Firma customers can feel safe in the knowledge that our workmanship is guaranteed.

About Us

Terra Firma has been transforming the gardens of London and the South East for nearly 40 years, creating beautiful, welcoming spaces that are a pleasure to be in and significantly enhance a home’s value.

Owner-Director Luke Richards came to landscape gardening after working as a tree surgeon for his family firm; five years with the Royal Engineers on the bomb disposal & search and fixed-site intelligence teams; and a further five years as a London Fire Brigade firefighter. Suffice to say, Terra Firma’s clients are quite literally in safe hands.

After meeting with a client, Luke personally puts together an expert team for the project for a seamless, bespoke experience. From landscapers and garden designers to fence-builders and lighting technicians, each person is hand-picked for their technical prowess, professionalism, and commitment to creating uplifting, safe, and long-lasting environments.

Whether you have a modest patio or a sprawling lawn, the right landscaping can future-proof your home and provide a beautiful backdrop for life’s most enjoyable and memorable moments.

TERRA FIRMA is quality assured:
Terra Firma has City & Guilds NPTC accreditation for the land-based sector; accreditation from the Contractor Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS); is registered with Which?; CheckaTrade; Trusted Traders; and Marshall’s; approved by Jackson’s Fencing; and is a member of the UK Association of Professional Landscapers.

What our customers are saying...

We commissioned Terra Firma Landscapes to complete a major overhaul of our garden including digging up the old lawn, removing turf and old shed, removing old trees and shrubs, replacing all fences, laying new decking and landscaping the new layout. I would thoroughly recommend them for their friendliness, professionalism and capability. Luke, in particular, was transparent and on hand at all times to answer any questions we had.

Bromley, Kent

The team removing the old fence and constructing the new fence were punctual, efficient, courteous, and very skilled. The 25m or so of fencing installed looks solid and impressive and the finish is good. Luke kept us informed of progress and we knew when to expect the team in the mornings. They took away all the old fencing to dispose of it responsibly.

London, SE27
